With a $70 million opening weekend for “Twilight,” Summit Entertainment is looking to strike while the iron is hot. The studio has announced the second novel in the series, “New Moon” will be adapted for the big-screen.
“New Moon” is the second title in the series and is centered on Edward Cullen leaving Bella Swan in order to keep her safe from other vampires.
Actors Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are contracted to return as star-crossed lovers Edward and Bella for the sequel.
No word yet on when “Moon” will go into production.
