In this week’s Slice of SciFi, we discussed the possibility that writer Bryan Fuller might return to “Heroes.”
Earlier this week, the series terminated writers Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander, leading many fans to wonder what’s next for NBC’s highest-rated scripted series. Immediate fan speculation began to swirl around Fuller, who wrote for “Heroes” in the first season, returning to the writing staff.
There is just one small problem. Fuller is the executive producer for ABC’s “Pushing Daisies.” The second-year series has been struggling in the ratings this year and hasn’t received an order from ABC for the final nine episodes of the season.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Fuller said that should “Daisies” get canceled, he’d be open to working with Tim Kring on “Heroes” again.
“I am exclusive to ‘Daisies’ through the delivery of the 13th episode of our 13-episode order, which will be mid-January,” Fuller said. “If ‘Daisies’ isn’t picked up by then, I will definitely be going back to play with my friends at ‘Heroes’.”

Season 2 was certainly poor for Heroes and the writers’ strike didn’t help. Season 3 started off OK, but has sort of been running in place, so that’s probably why the writers got bagged.
I heard an interview with one of the writers last year who was respondinig to fan criticism by saying that fans expected too much and that they had to “pace” the story. Well, that’s the problem!!! The writers will take a 1-story plot and stretch it over 6 episodes. People are getting bored with the show.
