Next year’s “Star Trek” will feature a licensing tie-in with the fast-food chain Burger King according to TrekMovie.
Burger King confirmed the tie-in earlier this week during their quarterly investor conference call. CEO John Chidsey stated “we believe our movie lineup with The Pink Panther, Star Trek, and Transformers will resonate with super fans and super families globally.”
While there aren’t any details yet on what the campaign might be, based on other Burger King movie campaigns, “Star Trek” could have in-store promotions, internet campaigns and games and targeted advertising. In-store promotions have involved special meals and toys and uniquely branded food items. The tie-ins are expected to help “Trek” reach a wider audience for next year’s return to the big screen.
“Star Trek” has featured tie-in campaigns before. “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” had a tie-in with McDonalds and “Star Trek III: The Search For Spock” featured a tie-in promotion with Taco Bell.
There is also discussion that this may not be the only tie-in promotion for “Star Trek.” TrekMovie reports negotations are underway to feature tie-ins for products at your local grocery store.

Let’s just hope they’ll still stay open late! It will be nice for my car to actually drive me home at 1:00 in the morning (instead of just hoping it does!)!

If only we can have Kirk look at a green chick and proclaim, “Baby, I’m the home of the Whooper©!”
