At long last, the long wait for “Fanboys” could be coming to an end. After years of studio hassles and hold-ups, fans will finally get to see this potential cult classic in theaters in February.
Yahoo! Movies has a new theatrical trailer for the film that follows four friends on a cross country trek to break into George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch. Their goal is to allow a dying friend to see a copy of “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menance” before he succumbs to cancer.
No word yet on which cut of the film this will be. There have been several cuts and multiple reshoots of the film as we’ve reported here at Slice of SciFi.
“Fanboys” will finally open in theaters on February 9, 2009.
Lejon from Chandler says
“Potential” cult classic? I think it’s already hit cult status. I already know about the plot, the infamous script changes, version 1 with the cancer patient and version 2 without, and geeks keep talking about it. I’m not even paying attention, and I know more about this film than I do about Reanimator…. Help me understand how it’s not a cult movie already?

Is it just me, or does it just not seem that cool any more?
