Fans eager to see more of Zach Snyder’s much-anticipated “Watchmen” may want to tune in (or set their recording devices) tomorrow night (October 21) Â for Spike TV’s Third Annual Scream Awards.
According to SciFi Wire, stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Malin Akerman unveiled the new footage when the awards show was taped Saturday evening. Spike will air the show on October 21 at 9 p.m. EST and the new footage will be included in the brodcast.
“We want to please the audience. That’s the reason we do this,” said Ackerman who plays Silk Spectre II. “But there is an added pressure with ‘Watchmen’, because there is a built-in fan base, and it’s an amazing novel. So this [is] something that I want everyone to love, because it’s such a beautiful piece of artwork that I hope we did it justice.”
Ackerman went on to say that fans will be pleased with the big-screen version of “Watchmen.”
“The movie definitely does the script and the novel justice, let’s just put it that way,” she said.
Her co-star, Morgan, who plays the Comedian added the movie will be accessible to a wider audience and those who haven’t read the graphic novel.
“It is a pretty heavy piece of literature, [but] Zack is such a visual director, … well, believe me: It’s a heavy movie, too,” Morgan told SciFi Wire. “But they way he shoots, I believe it’s going to be accessible to people who couldn’t quite sit through that novel.”
“Watchmen” will open in theaters March 6, 2009.
