UPDATE to — 20th Century Fox Puts ‘Undefined’ on “Avatar” Release — Story

October 15, 2008 by Sam Sloan   || Category: Film News

***UPDATE*** to the story listed below. 20th Century Fox is updating their website and it caused a problem with their “Avatar” section. The correct date for the release of “Avatar” will remain December 18, 2009.

It looks like fans really looking forward to the December 18, 2009 release of James Cameron’s highly anticipated film “Avatar” are going to have to wait longer.

20th Century Fox studios has announced that it has placed an “undefined” on the film’s release. We here at Slice of SciFi will go out on a limb here and say we see this “undefined” as just a PR way of saying “DELAY.”

No reason is given for the change in status for the long-awaited film and as tempting as it is to speculate why that decision was made, we will restrain ourselves. Suffice it to say that the film has already been in production nearly 5 years with no end-date in site. At this rate “Avatar” will either be a movie that will forever change the landscape of filmmaking, or the biggest flop in cinematic history.

Stay tuned to Slice of SciFi for updates.

Actually that was just a technical glitch. The release date has not changed at all. We are in the process of re-designing FoxMovies.com. AVATAR will still be released Dec 18, 2009.
