“Journey To Saturn” Proves to be a Huge Danish Hit Film

October 1, 2008 by Sam Sloan   || Category: Film

What do you get when a crew of Danish misfits aboard a spacecraft head for Saturn in search of natural gas? You get yourself a huge blockbuster animated hit film. That is exactly what happened this past weekend in Europe when the Danish animated movie “Journey to Saturn” hit theaters in selected European countries.

The Thorbjorn Christofferson directed film cost around $2.7 million (USD) to produce and in just 3 days scored a remarkable $1.2 million in box office, nearly half of its production costs. The movie still has several EU countries to debut in and has yet to be seen in the U.S. and Canada, where it is expected to do even better.

Voice work is provided by popular Danish actors Peter Belli, Frank Hvam, Iben Hjejle, Casper Christensen, Ali Kazim and Lars Hjortshoj.

“Journey to Saturn” will be Denmark’s fourth best opening movie in the last 8 years.

checked some of it out on the Youtubes. It. . .looks. . . NUTTY. The clips I saw were in Danish but the good news is when the aliens speak they have Danish subtitles. I like the dark made in pixar’s basement with lefter over equipment look.
