Another Disney Theme Park Ride Goes Big Screen

September 18, 2008 by Sam Sloan   || Category: Film News

Dwayne Johnson (”Doom,” “Southland Tales”) is set to star in a new Disney franchise of films that will revolve around one of the mega-company’s big amuzement park theme rides — “Tomorrowland,” according to Variety. Like the park, the film will center on outer space. However, at this time Disney isn’t sure if the films that follow will have the word Tomorrowland in their titles like they did with the Pirates of the Caribbean theme ride-to-film franchise.

Johnson is quickly becoming the new poster child for Disney having now headlined a few of its feature films, the most recents being “The Game Plan” and the just completed “Race to Witch Mountain.”

Disney has hired writers Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, both responsible for the upcoming film “The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner. The studio has give them the task of coming up with an original script for their planned epic space adventure.

Wait wait wait, Tommorowland was an ‘area’ of the Park… not a ride. What’s next…”Adventures at Epcot” ?

Hey, how about a Main Street movie! That’s an area too!
Or a Monorail movie. Then there’ll be a Parking Lot movie! The Parking Lot is HUGE. So many cars…so many stories.
    “In a world….”
