Warner Bros. plans to re-release its blockbuster Batman sequel, “The Dark Knight,” in January. Why? Because that will place the film back into the minds of Oscar voters at a time when that will be about all they will be thinking about. However, its chances of being seen in conventional theaters may be slim, but the film returning at that time in IMAX theaters is very likely. The movie has totaled over $512 million domestic with $55 million taken in at IMAX.
With the film getting ready for its big DVD and Blu-ray release in December of this year, that, along with this latest announcement from Warner will definitely bring the film back to the forefront of Oscar contenders.
“It’s just a matter of bringing it back as a reminder for people,” a studio insider told The Hollywood Reporter.
Early on the film was already abuzz with Oscar talk for the late Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker.

Great movie!
It won’t be long before the “For Your Consideration…” ads start running in the trades.
The voting members of The Academy (no…not THAT Academy, you Browncoaty geeks!) all recognize the incredible job Ledger did on The Joker and will mostl likely honor that work with a nomination *and* a statue.
BTW, did I hear someone say that there was a rumour out that one of the actors on the short list to play The Joker is….is…JOHNNY DEPP???
Oh.My.GAAAWWWD! That would be abso-freaking-lutely awesome.

I think that Heath ledger will win the oscar for best supporting actor, and if he doesn’t win the academy is as crazy as the Jocker There was no heath Ledger in this movie, he created the true essenece of the Joker
