"Dragon Hunters" to Stalk North American Cinema

Thanks to a deal procured by Futurikon, the ambitious French 3D animated feature film “Chasseurs de dragons,” a.k.a. “Dragon Hunters,” will get showings across North America.

“Hunters” has seen good success throughout Europe, will get its second release in the U.K. and Scandinavian release on the film festival circuit in November. Distributor Peace Arch thinks it will also translate well to audiences on this side of the pond. Exact dates for its U.S. release are to be announced.

The story follows the adventures of two dragon hunters who live in a world that has become a vast conglomerate of islands of varying sizes and shapes where the rule of law is “Eat, but don’t get eaten!” It isn’t a very pleasant place to be with all sorts of rogues, rebel-rousers, thieves and killers. Of course it also contains a good Lord named Arnold and his princess-type grand niece named Zoe who live under the constant fear that the horrendous World Eater dragon is about to make his 30-year return. Zoe teams up with her supposed heros, the two dragon hunters, and they go on the adventure of a lifetime.

The voice talent for “Dragon Hunters” is pretty impressive led by Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker and Rob Paulsen for the English version.

A DVD release is also set for Canada by February 2009.
