Remake City
They need to change that sign overlooking the Hollywood Hills to read “REMAKE CITY” instead of “Hollywood”.
Word out is another classic is being pulled out of the archives for a remake. Director Vadim Perelman (”House of Sand and Fog”) is said to be in negotiations to bring back “Poltergeist” for MGM. The original film, co-written by Steven Spielberg and directed by Tobe Hooper, debuted in 1982 and starred Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams. It spawned to sequels and a television series.
The film studio said earlier this year it was going to revamp many of its older products and bring them into the 21st Century. MGM has been looking for a way to get back into the game as a major player and feels this trip down the well-trodden remake lane is the way to do it. MGM is also looking to jump-start the “Robo Cop” franchise with a series of remakes.

I think it will tank at the box office. Robo cop has a better shot at actually being a draw given that it will be an action film.
I agree that they really should try to come up with something new.
I used to watch the TV series it didn’t seem to have anything thing to do with the movies other than the title. Unless i missed something.
Hey Hollywood! GO INTO THE LIGHT! FOR GOD”S SAKES GO INTO THE LIGHT!!!!
Tim
The best thing that we can do is NOT spend our money on these remakes. That is the only message that Hollywood understands.
Hollywood should make more zombie flicks, they seem to have an affinity for them.
Oh, merciless mother of all that is holy! Noooooooooooo!
I know who’ll go see it: all of the “young” people who 1)Never saw the original; 2)Wouldn’t even think of renting it.
What’s next? A remake of Close Encount—-oops. I shouldn’t jinx it. It might happen if someone hears it.
I won’t even say it aloud and put it into the universe.
Just forget I even *thought* about it.
Dang.
