I really like the new site, it’s a lot easier to find things. The old site was nice, but kind of cluttered.

I voted for the “Doesn’t matter…” option but I do appreciate the revamp – looks cleaner and easier to read – thanks.

Perhaps you should have tested it with more than one browser. As far as I can tell, the new site looks nice in Internet Explorer but it looks awful in FireFox. And no, that’s not FireFox’ fault. It’s yours.
Checking with a HTML validator and a CSS validator also wouldn’t hurt… (http://validator.w3.org/).
Interesting. I use nothing but Firefox and it looks great.

So far I preferred the old way of navigating to and from articles. There was was a “next” and “previous” option. The main page also had summaries of each post which was a little more informative than a single line headline. So, yes, I think I prefer the old format.

I enjoyed the old site, but this one has a nice clean look, and the navigation is much smoother. Nice update!
The article summaries can still be found in the category listings, which are available from the top nav bar, and will be again available on the sidebar once a few more things are cleaned up internally.
I use nothing but Firefox, and the site looks good to me as well. I’ll have to go somewhere and check out what it looks like on IE, though, so I can compare.
As for the HTML validation, thanks, it helped me find a typo. I don’t know why it won’t validate the Netflix ads… I can’t control that code.
The Slice of SciFi website was always an eZine, it just didn’t look like it. Now it finally does after a lot of hard work from Summer, Nina . We have never been a blog even though we looked like one. Now we simply look like what we have always been..an electronic SF news, information and entertainment magazine.
Also, just be patient, once we are through with some of the loose-ends and what’s left of minor clean-up, all the categories will again be seen on the sidebar.

Looks great. Never cared for the old look. Navigation is easy.
Thanks for the changing with the times.

I love it, my only complaint is that it is harder to figure out what contests are currently running. Of course, you could be planning on something like that, and I could be shooting my mouth off.
Looks really good, though, Summer and Nina. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Summer… clicking “news” shows everything in order and with summaries. I will get used to it.
One minor thing, whenever we left a comment I think there as # (or was it the date??) that was hyper-linked so we could easily bookmark the comment for future reference… any chance something like that could be reimplemented?
Great job on the redesign. I also appreciate today’s (apparently) update of how your RSS Feed is working; getting the whole story in my reader as opposed to just the leadline.
Very nice work. Love the show. Love the site. Love the world.

@ Summer and Sam:
Sorry for my previous comment about the awful look in FireFox. I must take that back. The problem was I viewed the site using FF’s zoom text only function. Without the zoom, it looks fine.
The reason I used the zoom was because on the old site, the typeface was a bit too small for my eyes. Now it’s OK.
Sorry again, I’m pleased with the new look. Keep that sci-fi news coming!

It looks nice. I look forward to the summaries showing up in a side bar. Right now, the headline isn’t enough for me to determine if I want to read the article, so I’ll click the link, determine I’m not interested, click the back button and repeat. It’s a lot more clicking than I used to do.

It’s a lot more organized and friendly. Congratulations!! The “design look” has never been that great but you did one heck of a job organizing the info. It makes it easier to read.
The summaries will not appear in the sidebar, but the major categories are in the sidebar now, and those category listings include excerpts.
Also, I worked out a bug, and now you should be able to navigate “Previous” and “Next” posts within each category… I’ve only run across an issue when an article is in more than one category (something we’re trying to clean up for older posts, and avoid with newer posts).
Shane, I don’t recall the permalink to the comments, but I’ll look.
Bumbles, there’s a link in the top navbar specifically for contests now… it should make it easier to see what contests are running *and* which ones have concluded and had winners announced.
Hiya Summer. Permalinks. Thanks, that’s the word I was looking for. I’m fairly confident Slice had permalinks in the comments similar to C2C and Winginit as I’ve got a few of the more interesting ones bookmarked.
@V: I attribute that mostly to folks getting use to the new look of the site and learning to navigate their way through it. Many, I think, still weren’t aware just how to find everything…..or, I could be wrong. ๐
