“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” will come to DVD and Blu-ray disc on October 14, according Paramount Pictures announced Tuesday.
“Crystal Skull” starred Harrison Ford as the aging adventurer/archaeologist Indiana Jones, the role he made famous in 1981 with the first of now four Indy films. This latest was done after a 19-year hiatus from the character and was again directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by creator George Lucas. The film also reunited Ford with his first female star Karen Allen (Marion Ravenwood). Extras provided in the two-disc sets will include a segment on how the new movie evolved after nearly a 20-year absence, a production diary with highlights from the various location shoots in New Mexico, Connecticut and Hawaii, segments on makeup, visual effects and the a look at the famed real crystal skulls located in different regions of the globe. A DVD boxed set with all four movies also will also be available, however, neither Paramount Pictures or Lucasfilm have announced when the first three Indy films will be released on Blu-ray.
