Judge to Snipes — Pay Up!

August 6, 2008 by Sam Sloan   || Category: Other

Judge William Terrell Hodges finally issued his ruling in one of the appeals left hanging in the tax evasion case against Blade actor Wesley Snipes. The verdict? Snipes must reimburse the U.S. government for the expenses incurred to put him on trial for his conviction. Snipes, through his lawyers, had objected and appealed the earlier decision stating he must pay for court costs. Total to come out of the actor’s pocket will be an additional $217,000 on top of the tax payback settlement worked out with the courts and the IRS.

In February 2008 a jury found Snipes guilty on three counts of willfully failing to file his income taxes. He has appealed the convictions and his three-year prison sentence. Snipes was given permission to leave the country to work on a film. He currently is under contract for three new movies.
