“Hellboy 2” director Guillermo del Toro and Miramax will produce a remake of the horror-thriller TV movie “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark,” which centers on a young girl, sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend, who discovers sinister creatures that live underneath the stairs. Comic book artist-writer Troy Nixey will make his feature directorial debut.

“Threshold” and “Sin City” star Carla Gugino, plays a crusading UFO specialist for the new Disney flick “Race to Witch Mountain.” The film has Dewayne Johnson in the male lead role and co-stars Anna Sophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig. The movie opens worldwide on March 13, 2009.

E*Online has the new “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” teaser online. You can check it out HERE. The clip shows Voldemort as blossoming evildoer Tom Riddle, played by 10-year-old Hero Fiennes-Tiffin (nephew of Ralph Fiennes, the all-growed-up Voldemort) and a computer-altered younger Dumbledore (Michael Gambon).

Chris Pine, the young actor who will take on the monumental task of playing James T. Kirk for the new J.J. Abrams film “Star Trek” told reporters during a press junket to promote his latest film “Bottle Shock” that he received William Shatner’s blessing before filming began on the new Trek project.

“I wrote him a letter in the beginning of the process and introduced myself, and said hello, just to make a connection, because I didn’t know him at all,” Pine said. “And he was very nice, and he was very gracious and sent me a letter back, and that’s the only contact we’ve had. … Except my father–in the first week I got the Star Trek project–did a Priceline commercial with William Shatner, so there was multi-generational contact with Mr. Shatner.”

Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against five Japanese firms for importing and selling equipment that enables illegal game programs to be played on Nintendo’s popular DS portable video game player. Nintendo said it filed the lawsuit earlier on Tuesday in the Tokyo District Court together with 54 other Japanese software makers.

“Indiana Jones” star Shia LaBeouf was cleared of blame in a weekend collision because the other driver ran a red light, police said on Tuesday.

According to a new survey done by Integrated Media Measurement Inc. (IMMI), over one-fifith of American television viewers are now watching their favorite television shows online. The report showed that the largest group of online TV viewers are white, affluent, well educated, working women aged 25 to 44.

Our final piece is a real fairy tale come true. Cheech and Chong, after 25 years of not appearing together, are now high on plans to reunite for their first LIVE comedy tour in more than 25 years.
