“Merlin” Gets Hurt

The BBC1 cast of “Merlin” will be joined by a movie icon. John Hurt (”Alien,” “1984,” “Harry Potter,” “Indy 4,” “Hellboy”) is on board with other new cast members Santiago Cabrera (”Heroes”) and Michelle Ryan (”Bionic Woman”). Hurt will provide the voice of the Great Dragon for the fantasy series that can be seen in the United States on NBC. It gets its U.K. premiere in this fall, a few weeks before the U.S debut in the winter.

Cabrera will play Lancelot, while Ryan will don the robes of sorceress Nimueh. The rest of the cast include Colin Morgan (”Doctor Who”) as the young Merlin, Bradley James (”Lewis”) stars as Arthur. Angel Coulby (”Magicians”) is Guinevere with actress Katie McGrath of Showtimes’ “The Tudors” playing Morgana.

Shooting is currently taking place in various locations throughout the U.K. and Europe.
