Bale Denies Assault Charges

“The Dark Knight” actor Christian Bale, speaking through his publicist, denies the assault charges brought against him by his mother and sister, which were filed on Sunday with the London Police.

On Monday Bale turned himself in to police for questioning at which time he stated the charges were false and was released on bail without being formally charged.

Bale released an official statement on Monday which read, “Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister.”

Bale was questioned by police about the alleged incident that supposedly took place Sunday at a London hotel. His mother and sister made the claim that Bale assaulted them during an argument. They were in London for the grand European premiere of “The Dark Knight.”

“Mr. Bale, who denies the allegation, cooperated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police,” Bales publicist said.

Neither the mother or sister are making any public statements saying only that “it’s a family matter.”

I'd like to point out two things -

    1) The story here reads "...was released on bail with being formally charged." I believe that is a typo. Bale was not formally charged according to MSNBC.com http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25794327/

    2) I find it ironic that the sister and mother are calling this a "family matter" while at the same time allowing the media to glom onto this in such a way and a very cynical side of me is wondering.

Yeah, I find that a bit ironic as well. Rumor has it now that Bale never touched his mother or sister but yelled at them after his mom made a derogatory remark about his wife. This is one episode that should have never gone beyond that hotel room. Who hasn't had these kinds of family squabbles at least once in their lives?

  3. Sam says:

yep typo. I'll fix that now.

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not one to blame the victim, but this just feels so out of place, and the timing so suspiciously convenient.

Christian Bale's parents are divorced long time ago and he chosed to stay with his dad. Now that he is famous and rich, his mom and sister appears and they have been paid for "exclusive" interviews and showings. Now this alleged assault where no charges were laid but the "news" of charges conveniently were leaked....of course it is a family matter because any false charges, even in liberal England, is an offense. Vultures and parasites appears in all forms....when money is involved.

it's too bad that people keep bothering Christian Bale about these rumors, he seems like a solid guy in general
