“Ponyo” Shows Big Numbers In Japan

Famed director Hayao Miyazaki has another mega hit on his hands with the animated film, “Gake no ue no Ponyo” (”Ponyo on a Cliff”).

The fantasy film revolves around a goldfish princess named Ponyo who desires to become human and her relationship with a 5-year-old boy.

“Ponyo” won the weekend in Japan coming very close to topping Miyazaki’s other highly popular toon, “Spirited Away,” however, it also opened in more theaters that “Spirited”.
