"Red Cliffs" Woo's Audiences

John Woo’s “Red Cliff” did quite well over the weekend for its premiere. It is now estimated that part one of the two-apart film, marketed as the most expensive Asian film ever made, garnered $23 million (USD) in just five Asian territories, which spells success for the grand historical epic.

The movie was shown in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and mainland China. It’s best box office came from Korea.

“The Battle of Red Cliffs” (a.k.a. “Chi bi”) opens in Malaysia this week, Japan in November and throughout the West, including the United States after January 2009.
