China Wants Changes to Mummy

July 11, 2008 by Sam Sloan   || Category: News

If the new Mummy movie titled “The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” ever hopes to see the light of day in the very country the film is about and was shot in then officials in the Chinese government want director Rob Cohen to make some specific changes to it. These changes would only be seen in theaters throughout China.

The State Administration for Radio, Film and Television told Daily Variety that the mainland release of the pic is pending. However, no further details were given. Exactly what changes China wants has yet to be revealed.

A spokesman for Universal said: “Universal does not anticipate any obstacles to clearing the film for China and looks forward to releasing “The Mummy: Tomb of The Dragon Emperor” in the country where it was set and shot. It is too early for me to comment on this until the situation becomes clearer,” Universal added.

This third film in the successful Mummy franchise has Brendan Fraser reprising his role of Rick O’Connell. He is joined by Maria Bello, who replaces Rachel Weisz as his wife Evelyn, Luke Ford, who portrays their grown-up son, Jet Li as the Mummy Emperor Han and Michelle Yeoh.
