“Hancock” Projected to be Big Weekend Holiday Winner

The Will Smith superhero film “Hancock” from Sony and Columbia Pictures is projected to be this 4th of July’s holiday weekend winner by bringing in an additional $66 million to its already growing tally, giving it a 4-day total of a whopping $107-plus million. Following on its heels at number two will be last week’s international and domestic winner “Wall-E” with another $33.4 million in the till and a total of $128.1 million since it debuted last weekend.

Rounding out the top 5 are all SF and genre-related films. Last weekend’s number two film “Wanted” slides to third with a respectable $90.8 million two-week total, fourth goes to Steve Carrell’s “Get Smart” and holding it all up is the animated hit that has one the heart of not only American audiences but those in China as well, “Kung Fu Panda” with a five week total of over $193 million in the U.S. alone.
