Did you ever wonder what creative minds do when they find themselves stuck on a picket-line and facing days of drugery walking back and forth and shouting “Hell No We Won’t Go” slogans and the like? Well, if they are writers who were part of the WGA strike last year they create an all-new website designed to showcase their work.

That is exactly what happen during the 4-month long WGA strike that lasted from Nov. 07 thru Feb 08. A bunch of these creative folks got together and created a new online site called Strike.TV and this weekend it gets its soft opening. Later in the month it will see its full-scale launch.

Strike.TV currently boasts of at least 40 different original series ready for take-off on the progressive website. Some of the things fans can expect to see will be shows like the following:

  • “Global Warming,” starring “Saturday Night Live’s” Kirsten Wiig and “Daily Show’s” Aasif Mandvi;
  • “Unknown Sender,” penned by Steven de Souza and starring Timothy Dalton and Joanne Whalley;
  • “House Poor,” created by “Office” writer-producer Lester Lewis;
  • “The Challenge,” starring Bob Newhart and penned by sitcom vet Lloyd Garver;
  • “Five or Die,” written and directed by horror movie vet Tom Holland;
  • “John’s Hand,” starring Garret Dillahunt and Kali Rocha.

  • As you can see from the titles, writers and stars, the programming will run the gamut of comedy, drama in categories including thrillers, SF, horror, sitcoms and more.

    Strike TV is overseen by its creator, Peter Hyoguchi, himself a WGA member who got really bored walking the line and came up with the idea, shared it with his friends and cohorts…then wah-lah - Strike.TV is born.

    Everything contained on the site will be original programming and paid for by advertisers who will sell their wares just like regular TV, however, the first three months of advertising revenues generated by the site will be donated to the Entertainment Assistance Program of the Actor’s Fund.
