“Lost” Mapped Out
In a recent interview for the August edition of SCI FI Magazine, “Lost” executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof said they know exactly how the show will meet its end once the sixth and final season concludes in 2010.
“The last scene has definitely been determined,” Lindelof said. By the end credits for the last episode in the final season “‘Lost’ will be complete,” stated Cuse. All will be answered because, as Cuse put it, “…we’re not holding anything back.”
The concluding episodes for season four begin in August with season five set to premiere near the end of January 2009.

I always figured that the showrunners knew how the series would run and ultimately end. But I think its more apt to say that they have an address and a set of directions, rather than a road map: they know where they want to end up, and what points to hit on the way, but they’re flexible on how to get between points. JMS proved that no matter how detailed your plans are, you need to leave wiggle room to account for the unpredictability.
Hmmm, they said this a year or more ago. They’ve known the final scene for quite awhile now.
Hasn’t season 4 already concluded? I’m confused
Yep, Season 4 is done and done, so I’m not sure what that’s all about.
I too thought Season 4 ended with (SPOILER) “you know who” in the coffin….but that is what was said in the interview with the two producers.
Ahh, wait a minute. Perhaps they were referring to it coming back in August and running specific episodes to prepare for the new season in the fall to bring fans up-to-date until the usual wrap-up episode done a week before the new season begins. They have done that sort thing before.
