Paste Magazine’s Top 10 Sci-fi TV Shows
Paste Magazine, an online source for what’s happening in music, film and culture has just unleashed their pick for the Top 10 Sci-fi Television Shows and in light of last night’s AFI Top 10 sci-fi movies, we thought we would share this with you.
I like the choices but not sure I would agree with their pecking order.

7. Farscape
6. Firefly
5. The X-Files

I agree with most of it. The only changes I would make is to switch STTNG with STDS9 and MST3K with Red Dwarf.
I agree also with most of it except Stargate SG-1 should be #2 and Stargate Atlantis should be #3 and lose “Buffy”.
anyone else find it strange that alot of the shows on this list.. have either been canceled, or were told to finish up before you get canned…
kinda funny isnt it?
good tv = gets the can.
With Stargate SG-1 having a 10 year run with a very successful spin-off, I’d think it should be further up the list too.
I’d take Lost off the list, move ST:TNG in it’s place, BSG in 2nd place, and place Babylon 5 at number 1. Other than that, not a bad list.
battlestar galactica, in my opinion, focused to much on starboard relationships to me, you know… the human drama or protocol of living on that spaceship. it seems like every episode takes place in 1 of 3 locations. location 1: caprica, location 2: space, location 3, battlestar galactica ship, either that or on some uncharted planet or ship, they don’t go nowhere so you only get battlestar galactica’s point of view of there world. you don’t really get introduced to the universe(”the way people live on certain planets, the local gossip or news or anything that makes it feel like your in there world). there’s more of that on star trek than battlestar. firefly to me is the hottest thing on the sci fi market since star wars(think han solo without a purpose). i feel like i’m living with the crew on serenity, i know all the planets, and what goes down on most of them(allied, outlawed, farming, illegal transactions, etc). firefly is about the people who have to live and follow the new and oppressive rules of the futuristic world… the people that live on the planets that the battlestar galactica and the enterprise pass by at light speed.

Ya - to go along with Beerep’s comment - I really don’t know what Babylon 5 didn’t make it onto this list… it’s had more influence on the trend of shows nowadays than a lot of people know. Not to mention that the story is, in my opinion, the most skillfully portrayed story I’ve ever seen acted out on television - the last episode actually made me shed a tear after watching the entire show the whole way through. I can’t really say that about ANY other show.
