Oscar Wilde’s newest film adaptation for “Dorian Gray,†starring Ben Barnes has been acquired by Alliance Films in a transatlantic deal that will allow the company distribution rights throughout the U.K., Spain, Italy, Scandinavia and Canada. Odeon Films will sell to Greece and Best Film goes to Poland with “Gray.” Concorde Pictures won the rights for all German-speaking territories and Village Roadshow will get to sell the film in Australia and New Zealand.
The remake follows the life of a very salacious and corrupt young man who never appears to age but retains his handsome visage for centuries, however, what does age is a unique painting of him that shows more than age, but also highlights his inner loathsomeness, ugliness and sheer evil.
The film is being adapted from the famous Oscar Wilde novel by relative newcomer Toby Finlay and scheduled for international release, including the United States, sometime in 2009.
