Shadow Unit First Season Finale Has Begun!

Emma Bull and Elizabeth Bear are ending the first season of Shadow Unit with a serialized novel set during the week it appears on the web. Through Saturday (May 31), new installments are being released each night at 7 PM CDT that cover the past 24 hours in the lives of the characters.

Shadow Unit — formally, the Anomalous Crimes Task Force — is a secret team within the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. They hunt people transformed by the Anomaly, a mysterious and possibly malevolent phenomenon that seems to thrive on human pain and fear.

The Shadow Unit project is written by Emma Bull, Elizabeth Bear, Sarah Monette, Will Shetterly, and Amanda Downum. All 250,000 words of Season One — seven novellas, a novel, and “DVD extra” vignettes, plus artwork and interactive LiveJournals by three of the characters — are free on the web under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 3.0 United States License.
