Apple & HBO Close to a Deal

May 13, 2008 by Sam Sloan   || Category: The Biz In Show Business

Apple is close to announcing it has signed a deal to sell HBO original programming and movies on iTunes, according to sources within the HBO heirarchy. The deal will mark the first time that Apple has agreed to a separate price structure for a content provider.

The HBO insider said that the new service would be launched and announced simultaneously, most likely in a week or two.

Details of the agreement are not yet known, but all indications point to it being pretty clear that HBO has been able to secure better terms from Apple than other content providers have in the past.
