Bay calls Transformers rumors “incorrect”
Beyond the fact that production is ramping up to begin filming in June, director Michael Bay said that everything else you’ve heard about Transformers 2 is just a rumor.
“Sorry everyone, everything you are reading [other then we are shooting in Philly] is false,” he wrote on his official Web site. “We are going to give so much disinformation on this film to confuse everyone.”
Bay says the rumors and story speculation are being circulated by the studio to keep fans in the dark for the upcoming sequel.
Showrunner changes won’t affect Moonlight
When Moonlight returns to CBS this week, fans may notice the series will have its third showrunner this year. Joel Silver stepped into the role as showrunner for the final installments of the show’s freshman season and will step aside when production is done. A new showrunner will come on board for the second season, should CBS renew Moonlight.
However, the turnover at producer hasn’t and won’t affect the direction of the show in the final episodes of the season says actor Jason Dohring. In a recent conference call, Dohring said the stories and direction of the show have remained consistent.
“We eventually had to write our own rules, not only rules that we have as vampires, but what style do we want,” Dohring said. “We have had [Gabrielle G. Stanton and Harry Werksman] since the beginning, so we’ve has a through-line of vision. So while we may have gone through different showrunners, we have had somewhat of a similarity.”
Austin Green elevated to regular on Sarah Connor
Brian Austin Green’s Derek Reese will become a full-time cast member when Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles returns for its second season reports SyFy Portal.
Green joined the cast in a recurring role mid-way through the drama’s freshman season and will join the cast full-time next year.
FOX has given Sarah Connor a 13-episode pick-up with the potential for nine more episodes in its second season should rating warrant it.
Iron Man to premiere early
Some lucky fans may not have to wait until next Friday to see Iron Man. Some theaters across the United States are gearing up to hold a special showing at 8 p.m. on May 1st of the summer blockbuster.
No official word yet on which theaters and chains will participate. You’ll have to check your local listings or Fandango to see if Iron Man opens early at a theater near you.
Speed Racer sequel already in the works?
The big-screen adaptation of Speed Racer won’t hit theaters until May 16, but producer Joel Silver says a sequel is already in the works.
In an interview with Collider.com, Silver said that the Wachowski brothers, who direct the upcoming film, already have ideas for a second installment.
“Look, they have a great story idea for a sequel to this movie (Speed Racer), we have a great idea for a sequel if it makes sense to make it,” he said.
Del Toro: Hellboy would end after third film
Director Guillermo del Toro says that should the Hellboy franchise get a third movie, it would be the last movie in the series.
“If there was ever a third one, I would really make sure that we at least sign a contract that there is no more,” del Toro told SciFi Weekly. “No prequels and no sequels: nothing. If that happens, then there is a third one we have planned, and the seeds are planted in this film.”
Another day, another conflicting Narnia story
Earlier this week, we brought you the news that the Narnia movies were going to wrap up after filming of Voyage of the Dawn Trader. But now comes a report from MTV News that producer Mark Johnson has a short-list of directors for the fourth installment, The Silver Chair.
Johnson said he’d like to see each installment of the franchise helmed by a different director, similiar to the Harry Potter films.
“I think [the director of Silver Chair] will be somebody new entirely,” Johnson said. “I would like to get somebody totally unexpected.”
We have previously reported that Disney was looking to the box-office results of this summer’s Prince Caspian and an indication of whether or not to continue the series beyond a third film.
During the interview, Johnson admitted that adpating some of the later novels in the Narnia series could be tricky.
“I’d be lying if I didn’t say a couple of them I don’t know how to film,” Johnson confessed, adding a wry smile. “It would be a good problem to have.”
Blake’s 7 could be back on TV soon
Britian’s Sky One has given the green light to a potential come-back for Blake’s 7 reports the BBC. The deal will develop two 60-minute scripts as a “potential event series.”
“The time is ripe for a revival of a show that represents the best traditions of the genre, not to mention one of the best-loved and most successful dramas of all time,” Elaine Pyke, commissioning editor for drama at Sky One, Two and Three, said.
Sky is working alongside Blake’s 7 Productions, a subsidiary of Blake’s 7 Media who owns the licence to the show.
No word yet on when production would start on the new series or when it would air. Also, no word on if this would be a re-imagining of the series like Battlestar Galactica or a continuation from the original series like Doctor Who.
Faith says
There have been so many conflicting reports on whether there will be anymore Narnia films after the third one–I don’t really think they’ll know until they are already making the third one.
