tobeymaguire.jpgSpider Man’s Tobey Maguire will be producing a new film adapted from a graphic novel from Red 5 Comics. The feature is titled “Afterburn,” a comicbook from Paul Ens and Scott Chitwood.

Relativity and Original Films are attached. Neal Mortiz heads up Original Films. The press release didn’t indicate if this project will be live-action, animation or in the style of “Sin City.”

The graphic novel picks up a story about Earth one year after a gigantic solar flare has scorched one half of the planet’s surface and follows the adventures of a group of treasure hunters who revisit the burned planet-side in search of valuable artifacts.

No word yet if Maguire will also be starring in the project.

His production company is also adaptating the Japanese anime serial “Robotech” for Warner Bros, “Tokyo Suckerpunch” with Sony Pictures, in which he will star with Reese Witherspoon.
