Looks like Jim Carrey’s “Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who” will remain the top grossing film for two weekends in a row if current estimates hold out by close of theaters tonight. Last weekend the movie broke all previous weekend records and this weekend it looks to add an another estimated $25 plus million to its already growing stash. Most weekend openers are lucky to see that much on their first three-day launch, much less in their second week.
Case in point is this week’s second place film, “Meet the Browns.” it will be lucky to surpass the $20 million mark if the current projected numbers hold. In third thus far is the new horror/shocker “Shutter,” followed closely by the new Owen Wilson flick “Drillbit Taylor” with Roland Emmerich’s “10,000 B.C.” desperately clinging on to the number 5 spot.
