Buffy One Night Reunion

The cast and crew of Joss Whedon’s hit TV series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” were reunited one night only for a panel discussion last night at the William S. Paely Television Festival.

On hand were series regulars Sarah Michelle Geller, Seth Green, James Marsters, Amber Benson, Nicholas Brendon, Charisma Carpenter, Emma Caulfield, and Michelle Trachtenberg, as well as the man himself, Joss Whedon.

Cited by many in the industry as being one of the most important and influential shows to have ever been on TV, it’s hard to believe that new episodes have been off the air since 2003, which naturally brought up the question from the press about a possible reunion for real, either for another television show or a big screen project. When asked about any of these possibilities, Joss was quick to remind the assembled press of the logistics involved with doing something so grand.

“My answer would be, like, there are so many stars that would have to align [for that to happen]. But, you know, there’s a reason I worked all of these people for so long. They’re enormously talented. And clearly, from the comic, it’s a story that I can’t let go of. I think it would be really cool.”

“But if I had to shoot down everything I’m doing in the comics because we were doing a project…I was filming with these actual people, I wouldn’t lose a lot of sleep.”

Those assembled for the “Buffy” panel were treated to a screening of the show’s fifth-season musical episode “Once More, With Feeling.”
