Carla Gugino (“Threshold,” “Sin City”) will join Dwayne Johnson as the female lead in Disney’s “Race to Witch Mountain.” Also signed on is director/actor Gary Marshall, not in the center seat, but before the cameras this time. Andy Frickman is directing.
Gugino will star as the discredited astrophysicist and UFO expert who meets up with Johnson’s character, a Las Vegas cabbie. He seeks out her extraterrestrial expertise to help a pair of psychic siblings (AnnaSophia Robb & Alexander Ludwig) escape the baddies out to get them, and who end up saving humanity from destruction. Marshall will play a UFO conspiracy investigator and pseudo-scientist (kind of like those guys on “UFO Hunters”).
On a bit more adult note, Gugino will soon be starring opposite the great Robert De Niro as his love interest in “Righteous Kill.” Even better than that, she stars as Sally Jupiter, a.k.a. Silk Spectre for the upcoming Alan Moore/Zack Snyder feature film “Watchmen,” adapted from Moore’s graphic novel.
