Raimi Heads For the Monster Zoo

doug_tennapel.jpgsamraimi-791317.jpgSam Raimi may not have gotten the nod (at least not yet) to direct “The Hobbit,” but he is keeping very busy. Production for his new horror film “Drag Me To Hell,” for which his brother Ivan wrote the script, will be getting underway in about a week. Once that film is in the can Sam will move right on to his next project titled “Monster Zoo.”

Based on the Douglas TenNapel graphic novel, “Monster Zoo” tells the tale of a young boy who discovers his local zoo contains animals much more frightening than the ordinary collection seen in any municipal zoo.

The graphic novel has yet to hit bookshelves but is expected in stores by this spring.

Sam will produce the project with Josh Donen. Currently he hasn’t obligated himself to direct the feature, but odds are he will be sitting in the center seat for this one.

TenNapel may be familiar to many comic book fans from his past graphic novels such as “Tommysaurus Rex,” “Iron West,” “Earthworm Jim” and “Cat Scratch.”
