New Bionic Woman on DVD

00056828-923595_400.jpgThe “Bionic Woman” (2007): Volume One DVD (Widescreen) will be available for purchase on March 18, 2008.

From executive producer David Eick (”Battlestar Galactica”), this show had high hopes of being a gripping re-imagining of a universally beloved character. If Eick’s work on BSG was to be any indication of the kind of magic that could be brought to a remake of an old series, then “Bionic Woman” should have been totally awesome and out there. However, the actual show never quite measured up to fan’s high expectations.

Even show stoppers like Katee Sackhoff, delicious as an evil bionic babe, “Witchblade” alum Will Yun Lee, who always delivers a spot on performance, guest appearances by the controversial Isaiah Washington, and the always intense Miguel Ferrer couldn’t save this show that was headlined by a weak performance from British actress Michelle Ryan as Jamie Sommers, the Bionic Woman.

Taking its lead from the original series, Jamie Sommers is a hard-working woman struggling to take care of her younger sister. But after a serious, life-threatening accident, Jamie is saved by a top-secret procedure that makes her much more than just an ordinary woman…it makes her superhumanly bionic.

This DVD is labeled Volume One because I’m assuming it only contains the show’s 2+ hour pilot episode. It is also assumed the remaining series episodes of season one will be contained on Volume Two. You can pre-order this 2-Disc DVD copy HERE.

Because it was such a hit on tv, *of course* people will want to buy this only to wait for the rest of the series (probably at an inflated price) and spend *even more* money. Am I the only one who thinks selling just the pilot like this is beyond ridiculous?

It’s called milking the uninformed. That is why we try and keep you all informed.

This ended up being horrible, however I don’t think it was Michelle Ryan’s fault totally. There was no continuous plot and the story each weak was pretty bad too. But worst of all was the cheesy CIA boyfriend, that guy was awful and should never get on TV again.

Yeah, agreed. The writing was bad for this one, which came as a total shock knowing that Eick was in charge.

Heh. Tom was actually the only part I liked.

I wish they’d let her have her british accent. I think she spent so much time trying to have an American accent -at all- that there was nothing left for the acting part. During the one episode where she could speak naturally, she could emote! It was like a revelation! And then it went away again.

Sad. A poor casting choice. Although I think she would have been fine if they’d just decided that she was a UK transplant.

      I agree.
