“Dark Floors” Is a Gritty Horror Film
The Finnish horror film “Dark Floors,” a big seller at this year’s Berlin Film Market, is a dark, disturbing movie in the classic horror tradition.
The story centers on a couple who are concerned for their autistic daughter’s health and well being. The parents believe that the only way she can be saved is to get her far away from the institution where she is a patient. The father forcefully steals her away from her room only to get trapped with her and others in the elevator after what seems to him to be a power failure.
When the doors are finally opened, the hospital is engulfed in darkness and seems to be completely deserted. As they try to make their way out they soon come upon mutilated bodies and are themselves stalked by mysterious creatures from a dark world. It soon becomes clear that their survival rests solely on the young troubled girl.
“Dark Floors” is directed by Pete Riski (”Viimeistä kesää”) and stars Lordi (”The Kin”) and Skye Bennett (”Ballet Shoes”) as Sarah.
The movie premiered earlier this month in Finland and will be seen in Estonia and Iceland on February 29, 2008. No word yet when the English speaking version will open in North America.

English speaking? Why not settle for subtitles? The original movie is better than the American remake 9 times out of 10 anyhow.
I should have been more concise and said “English dubbed.” What North American audiences will see is the original Finnish film dubbed in English, once it gets released in that form.
