In The News:
- New genetic research has uncovered an exciting discovery. DNA has been found to have the unique ability to put itself together, even at, on a microscopic level, great distances
- Another nail has been hammered into the coffin of the HD-DVD format. Netflix announced it will no longer be purchasing or providing the HD-DVD formatted DVDs or online movie downloads to its customers and will opt for Blu-ray instead.
- From the INTERNATIONAL NEWS DESK comes word that China has opened the door to video games to enter its country — well, at least the door, if not opened wide, is now ajar.
Movie Talk:
- On March 7th “10,000 B.C.,” the sweeping odyssey that delves into the mythical age of prophesies and gods, comes to theaters. It takes place in a time when spirits ruled the world and the mighty mammoth shook the Earth on its very foundations. The movie’s story is told through the eyes of D’Leh (Steven Strait), a young man from a remote mountain tribe.
- “Shutter,” starring Joshua Jackson, Rachael Taylor, David Denman and “Heroes” alum James Kyson Lee is the horror story of a newly married couple who discover disturbing, ghostly images in photographs they develop after a tragic accident. “Shutter” will be in theaters on March 21st.
Special Segment: Just Terry has a fascinating review of episode one for the Season Two of “Torchwood.” There are some spoilers here in case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t seen the first episode yet. Season Two of “Torchwood” can be seen on the BBC in England and various parts of the globe as well as on BBC America and HD Net.
TV Talk: Sam has written a novel length dissertation on the new George Lucas television show “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” It will be appearing on both the Cartoon Network and TNT this coming fall, but before it debuts on television, Mr. Lucas will release a 3D CGI animated film version in theaters on August 15, 2008.
Interview: This week we welcome actor, writer, director and producer Mike McCafferty as he shares with us the great news that the SCI FI Channel series “The Invisible Man,” which he co-starred in, is finally coming to DVD. Mike also shares some of his thoughts about those in production with the power to make or break a series or movie idea, his role as Officer Collins in the popular SF spoof, “Idiocracy,” and just what was the genesis for highly popular online series “Chad Vader.” Mike talks about another of his successful ventures that migrated from VH1 to an online hit, “L33t Haxxors.”

I didn’t want to see 10,000 B.C. before I heard about the plot. No after hearing the plot, I still don’t want to se it. Blech.

Sorry if I sent too many emails for the contest. I didn’t send 300 but I sent more than 5. Perhaps it’s good that this happened so that you could put some guidelines in place. I was simply going off what you guys say on the show and that’s basically enter as often as you like.
Don’t you think it’s a bit unfair to have deleted those emails when there were no guidelines in place? Don’t blame the masses for your oversight. We just wanted us some Harryhausen.

Not a problem and nobody is getting blamed. It just started getting quite overwhelming so it required us to tighten up the rules a bit.
