“SCI FI Channel Day for Fans & Writers”

January 23, 2008 By Sam Sloan 1 Comment

In December 2007 we did a very special interview with writer Jaime Paglia to get the writer’s perspective of the dispute between the WGA and AMPTP. The strike continues as the members of the Guild struggle to get a ‘fair and balanced’ compensation for the work they do for studios and networks and the great entertainment they provide for fans, especially those of us who love sci-fi and related genre films and television programming.

Informal talks between the WGA and AMPTP have resumed with what we hope turns out to be positive results for the writers.

Yesterday I received this letter from Jaime and I wanted to share it with all our fans. If you are anywhere near the L.A. area on February 6th, we here at Slice of SciFi hope you can participate in this important event.

Thank you,

Samuel K. Sloan
FarPoint Media Executive News Director

Join the writers, producers and cast members from SCI FI Channel’s BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, EUREKA, FLASH GORDON, PAINKILLER JANE, and others for an afternoon rally at NBC Studios.

WHEN:
12 noon – 2 pm
Wednesday, February 6th

WHERE:
NBC STUDIOS
3000 W. Alameda Ave.
Burbank, CA

Sign in at WGA table in Bob Hope Park (next to NBC on Bob Hope Drive). We encourage fans to make their own signs, or grab one of ours and meet at the corner of Alameda & Olive.

We wouldn’t be here without our fans. Please march with the WGA as we push the AMPTP to finally make us a fair deal so we can all get back to work telling stories for the people who make our jobs possible. We hope you can make it out so we can say thank you in person for your ongoing support.

I look forward to seeing you there.

In Solidarity,

Jaime Paglia
EP/co-creator “Eureka”

Hi there! Thanks for the heads up. I run the semi-official web site of Eric Johnson, star of FLASH GORDON, and have gone ahead and posted this on the site in hopes that some of his local fans come out and show their support. 🙂
