According to The Hollywood Reporter actress Rachel Nichols (”P2″), who will also be seen in the new “Star Trek” film, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (”Lost”) and Said Taghmaoui (”The Kite Runner”) are joining Sienna Miller (”Stardust”) and Ray Park (”Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace”) in the live-action movie based on the popular military doll and its comic-book and cartoon series spinoffs.

“G.I.” will be directed by Stephen Sommers and is slated for an August 2009 release from Paramount Pictures. The G.I. stands for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, an international terrorist fighting force.

The live-action film will be fully based on the cartoon series that featured military soldiers fighting a terrorist group called Cobra, with characters like the mute ninja Snake Eyes on the side of the good guys. Ray Park will portray Snake Eyes in the movie.

Nichols will play a skilled martial artist who specializes in hand-to-hand combat and counterintelligence. Akinnuoye-Agbaje will play an ordnance expert, and Taghmaoui the team’s communications specialist. Miller will play the Baroness, known for her espionage skills.
