We were shocked to learn that CBS/Paramount has dropped the ball and will let their official Star Trek Website go by the wayside. Here is the official Press Release from StarTrek.com:
Goodbye from the STARTREK.COM Team. Sadly, we must report that CBS Interactive organization is being restructured, and the production team that brings you the STARTREK.COM site has been eliminated. Effective immediately.
We don’t know the ultimate fate of this site, which has served millions of Star Trek fans for the last thirteen years.
If you have comments, please send them to editor @ startrek.com – we hope someone at CBS will read them.
Thank you for your loyal fandom over the years. It has been a pleasure to serve you.
What is it with corporate heads? Why don’t they get it? Paramount, within just a year, will be releasing the biggest Trek film since “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan” & “Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country” and they decide to eliminate their main source of online communication with fans across the world.
Well, stay tuned to Slice of SciFi as we will endeavor to continue keeping you up-to-date on all that is happening in the Star Trek universe. And, our fondest wishes for the staff at StarTrek.com, hopefully, they will soon find gainful employment elsewhere.

WTH
looks like Star Wars wins. Sigh.
Maybe they are going to redo and revamp for the new
movie(s, one can only hope for a multiple!).
Then again, I may have just given them that idea. IF so. it is copyrighted and please forward all royalties ASAP.
This is why 9/10th of my TV content comes from NBC/Universal. Seriously, I counted. The shows I watch on NBC, USA, and Sci-Fi make up the bulk of what I watch. I haven’t watched a damn thing on ABC since NYPD Blue wnet off the air, and I only wath 2 prgrams on CBS (CSI, and CSI Miami). Granted. NBC/U isn’t perfect (making us wait till April for BSG for example), but they seem to be the media company that is the least insane in their programming choices.
Just when you are convinced the people in Hollywood (including the music industry) can’t get any stoopider…
dumb dee dumb dumb. hollywood people. waaaaaay dumb. we need to send summer to punch in the nose, im sayin.
darcy
Well, CBS almost destroyed Fender guitars way back when, and now they’re mucking around with Star Trek. They expect the “passionate fan base” to keep the site going, but where and how are they supposed to obtain the official news, info, and content that the website production team formerly supplied us? Fortunately, Fender survived and has thrived in the so-called post-CBS era; I look forward to the day when “post-CBS” applies to Star Trek as well.
