Kiefer Sutherland, star of the hit Fox thriller “24,” who was already on probation, will be spending the next 48 days at the gray-bar hotel after being arrested for his second drunk driving charge within a three year period on September 25th of this year. His jail time begins this morning.
Sutherland, 40, pleaded no contest to the charges back requested to have his month in a half sentence at the Glendale, California jail. The judge granted him his request.
“Kiefer made the decision to surrender to custody immediately,” his attorney, Blair Berk, told The Associated Press.
“I’m very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I’m deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers,” Sutherland said in a statement.
The terms of his plea barin also entail a five year of probation status, a $510 fine, a requirement to enroll in an 18-month alcohol-education class and attend weekly alcohol-therapy sessions for six months.
