It is becoming more obvious what American moviegoers are wanting. On one hand they want bang, bang high action and on the other, they want fantasy and love…and, if you can mix the last two together, then you have a major hit on your hands.
This fact was brought to bare as this weekend’s box office winner, bringing in over $50 million, is the Disney fantasy love story “Enchanted.” It has done in just 3 days, what it has taken a full week for “Beowulf” to do, cap that $50 mil mark.
Taking second isn’t “Beowulf,” but in a surprise surge of holiday magic, “This Christmas,” a drama centered around the Whitfield family’s first holiday together in four years, starring Delroy Lindo, Regina King and ER’s Mekhi Phifer showed an impressive opening with a little over $27 million.
“Beowulf” captured third while “Hitman” and Seinfeld’s “Bee Movie” rounded out the top tier.
We will have the full Top Ten Weekend winners for you later in the week.
