“Saw IV” Slashes Competition

October 28, 2007 by Sam Sloan   || Category: Film

To quote an old stand-up comic “It’s a sick world, I’m a happy guy!” This has got to be the new mantra coming from execs at Lionsgate this weekend as thesawiv.jpg fourth entry in the SAW franchise is currently butchering it’s competitors for box office bucks.

The film, starring Tobin Bell, returning as Jigsaw is estimated to draw in a hefty $32+ million (USD) once all the ticket receipts have been counted tonight after the last showing across the country. That comes to $2 mil less than “Saw III’s” opening, but $1 mil more that “Saw II.” However, this is double the amount of what the highly-touted “30 Days of Night” brought in for its weekend debut last week.

“30 Days” slipped to third with Steve Carrel’s “Dan In Real Life” taking over the second spot for its premiere showing.

The rest of the top five films have Dewayne “The Rock”Johnson holding his own in Disney’s “The Game Plan” at fourth, followed by another Lionsgate feature “Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married?”

We will have the full Top Ten later in the week.
