New Life in WGA Talks

With time running out to prevent a strike, studio and networks have moved to jump-start stalled contract talks with a streamlined proposal, according to Variety.

The companies presented the Writers Guild of America a comprehensive package at Thursday’s negotiating session – with the goal of providing a means for the WGA to begin serious talks. Such a move is designed to remove peripheral issues and begin the give-and-take of bargaining.

The WGA has already authorized its 12000 members to strike in November if negotiations fail to provide them with a bulk of their demands from studio and network companies.
