Making what is probably the wisest decision in his career, young actor Chris Pine has opted out of starring with George Clooney in “White Jazz” and will take the lead as Captain James T. Kirk for the new J.J. Abrams film “Star Trek.”
“White Jazz” director Joe Carnahan, in his official blog, made it known that Pine will boldly go where only one other man has gone before — into the shirt-off, drop-kick verse know as Kirk.
“I’ve been talking to him this past week,” commented Carnahan, “….knew how tough the decision had to be for him. I don’t envy ever being in that spot but I gave him my full support, even if it meant he didn’t do ‘White Jazz.’ I get it. You don’t get opportunities like that often and I told him as long as he could control as much of that process as possible and not get sucked into doing lesser sequels as a result of taking this gig, then good luck and God bless. We’re sure to do something down the road. I’ve already slotted him in for ‘Killing Pablo’.”

This week’s Galacticast pretty much sums up my biggest fears for Trek XI, with much high-larity…

Wise decision?
I dunno. He’s going to catch a lot crap from a lot of people long before anyone even has a chance to see what he does with the role.

Ironically, the cast is the only thin giving me hope right now. That and that Abrams is only directing not writing the thing. Last thing we need is Star Trek Felicity.
