The G4 Cable network and its brother HD network Mojo have landed a very sweet deal that will put them in the driver’s seat to broadcast re-runs of the NBC mega-SF hit series “Heroes” as early as 2010 and same-week rights later this month, according to Variety.
What makes this deal seem even more impressive is that these two male-oriented channels were able to outbid NBC Universal owned SCI FI Channel (which actually passed on the show beyond season one), did it for around only $300,000 (USD) per episode, and it will also allow G4 to produce half-hour LIVE “Heroes” wrap shows that would air immediately following its showing of the re-runs each week on Saturday nights.
Other cablers like SPIKE, TNT, A&E and TBS also showed little interest in competing against G4 and Mojo for the opportunity to showcase the re-runs.
“This is a seminal moment for us,” stated Neal Tiles — G4 Network president. “We’ve been trying to find the right fit as we search for these off-net runs, and I can’t imagine a more perfect fit than ‘Heroes’. It’s something that puts us into the category of being a serious player for product that we believe in.”
Look for “Heroes” repeat programming to begin in the last week of October 2010.

This makes a rare bit of locial sense, even though I don't get G4 as part of my cable package anymore.
If you thought the advertising on the Sci-Fi channel was annoying, you ain't seen nuffin yet!
I wonder if part of the reason some of the bigger name cable outlets showed as little interest as they did was the serialized nature of Heroes.
It's doing well now, but are repeats a good long-term investment?
The thing about the L&O repeats is they have no continuity so you can drop in and out any time...
Just a thought...
