Jack Bauer Does Hard Time
“24″ actor Kiefer Sutherland has been ordered by the judge to spend a bit more than 24 hours for is most recent D.U.I. charge.
The repeat offender will be given 30 days in jail (to begin July 08) after pleading no contest Tuesday to a charge of driving above the legal blood-alcohol limit. His time in the hooze-gowl won’t delay production of his Emmy winning Fox series.
An additonal 18 days in the custody of the L.A. County Sheriff’s office will begin on December 21, and the actor has been court-ordered to complete an 18-month alcohol education program and to attend weekly alcohol therapy sessions for six weeks. His driver’s license was placed under total suspension from November 9, 2007 through May 9, 2008.
The conviction stems form the September 26th arrest of Sutherland for driving under the influence after his blood alcohol level measured significantly above the California State limits. He topped out at 0.8.
“I’m very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I’m deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on ‘24′ and at 20th Century Fox,” Sutherland said in a statement. “I appreciate the support and concern that has been extended to me these last weeks both personally and professionally.”
