DirectTV Debuts SCI FI in High-Def‏

Written by: Michael Hickerson (SoSF Staff Journalist)

After months of waiting, fans with DirectTV can finally enjoy the SCI FI Channel in HD, according to TV Squad.

The satellite service provider has rolled out a bevy of new HD channels, including the SCI FI Channel. The HD channel is one channel above the current SCI FI Channel.

But there is a catch. Subscribers with an older HD DirectTivo won’t be able to receive the new channels. Users will need the newer Mpeg-4 HD receivers, like the HR20 to view the channels. A call to DirectTV’s customer retention department will allow you to upgrade to the new equipment.

Of course, this would be better news if SCI FI was currently showing anything worth watching. I can’t imagine that “Flash Gordon” in HD is any better than “Flash Gordon” in SD.

Well, what kind of resentment do you have against the Sci Fi channel?
You could easily say the same for sports, talking heads, or showing old black and white movies in high def.

I am not a fan of "Flash Gordon" either but I enjoy other programming on Sci Fi.

    Curious,
