“Galactica 1980,” the spin-off from the original “Battlestar Galactica” is heading to DVD later this year. The series, which ABC rushed to air after a massive fan outcry over the cancellation of the original “Galactica” will be a two-disc set featuring all ten episodes of the series according to Television Shows on DVD.
The set will retail for $29.98 when it’s released on December 26th.
Be warned: buy this one at your own risk. I was all of seven when it first aired and it seemed kind of lame to me even then…

I liked that last episode (Whatever Happened to Starbuck). It was quite good. Enemy Mine.... Had that been made at the time? (Summer, help).
But I'll have to buy it... just to have the complete series.... but... but... my brain hurt.... (and it isn't from driving on the right hand side of the road... though that could be contributing).

Enemy Mine (the novella) is from 1979 so you could be right about the influence.
Back in the day, I remember hearing a sad story in the news about a disturbed teenager who comitted suicide when Battlestar Galactica was canceled. A rather mean spirited joke at the time was he only killed himself after watching the first episode of Galactica 1980.
I was at a con when "Galactica 1980" was on the air. Dirk Benedict was a featured guest. Someone asked him if there were any plans for him to be a part of "Galactica 1980." Benedict said no. Three weeks later the "Whatever Happened to Starbuck" episode aired. It is the only decent episode of the series but it also showed how quickly it was slapped together.
Question: Which is worse: the new "Flash Gordon" on Sci-Fi or "Galactica 1980?" It's a tough call. I say Flash by a nose.
