With a name like moves-with-burning-grace he/she/undecided has to be good.
Such a random poll.
Has to be O’Brien. Engineer, security, transporters… there’s not much that guy can’t do.
I have been accused by other trekkies of knowing too much about Trek, but this is ridicules….or impressive….or sad….
The trekker in me says “Wow! Someone really knows their engineers. Great Job.”
The human inside me says, “Okay, now go outside and play for a while…There is a world out there.”
I’ve been watching Star Trek incarnations my entire life. Who are most of these people?
Ok - the Stat Trek geek in me has really shown this time hasn’t it? I too didn’t realize just how much of a Trek nerd–er, fan, I was until I decided to compile this list of famous Starfleet engineers, starting with Captain Archer and taking it all the way into the 24th Century era of the Trek verse. I realize that many of these names are not commonly known by fans of just Trek TV and films. Some of them come from the line of Trek novels, animation series and even some fan productions.
Moves-With-Burning-Grace was the chief engineer on the Star Trek Enterprise under the command of Captain Robert April, the guy in charge of Enterprise right before Christopher Pike.
Vorik, a Vulcan, shared engineering duties on Voyager and lost the chief engineer spot to Torres, but continued as her assistant engineer.
Phigus Simenon was chief engineer of the USS Stargazer, the first command ship for Jean-Luc Picard.
Fans are familiar with Nog, the Ferengi and nephew of DS9’s Quark. He served as O’Brien’s assistant engineer on the Defiant and later served as Chief engineer on other Starships. Nog holds the distinction of being the first Ferengi in Starfleet and the only other starfleet cadet to have beaten the Kobiashi Maru “no win scenario.” Cadet James T. Kirk was the only other cadet to ever do that.
Logan and Burstein were chief engineers on the Enterprise -D under Jean-Luc Picard before Geordi got the job.
Sonya Gomez served as LaForge’s assistant engineer on the Enterprise-D & E.
If my memory serves me correctly, Caitlin Barry was Chief Engineer of the Enterprise right before Scotty took over during the command of Christopher Pike.
And the rest served aboard Enterprise and various other canon and non-canon ships from 2150 to the 24th century.
wow thanks Sam,
I was wondering who the other people were. cool poll. I still like Scotty myself, he was so cool in the movie and I always liked when he was on.
darcy
There can be only one - Scotty for sure.
Okay. Please, there is only Scotty. Period.
I liked Michael Burnstein, myself.
OK, Thanks, Sam. I feel MUCH better now. Thought I had missed a movie, or a series, or fallen into an alternate reality, or….
Now go outside and play, Sam. Fresh air, sunshine and human contact will do you good!
I did vote for Scotty.
Sam I tip my hat to your encyclopedic knowledge of starfleet engineers.
I was even with you until Phigus, then you kicked it up to warp 9.99999.
Burgy all the way.
Are you kidding me? Miles O’Brien did more with less than any of these others could ever dream of doing. And on 2 different shows, no less!
Of course my wife would vote for “Trip” Tucker, but only because she has a thing for him, lol. But there is something to be said for being the first.
