September 9, 2007 by Sam Sloan   || Category: TV

In about two weeks, all the new SF shows will start getting their premieres on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, SCI FI, USA and the CW networks. Also, some old favorites will be returning. But, until then, let’s look at what’s coming up this week. Some fresh stuff and others probably not so new.

Be sure to stay fixed with Slice of SciFi as we will be giving you a run-down and schedule of all the new SF and genre-related network and cable programming coming with the new season. Be looking for that here in just a few days.

First up is SCI FI Channel:

On Tuesday September 11 at 9/8C, people glow in the dark and blood runs from the faucets. Is Eureka being smited by a Biblical plague? Teryl Rothery (Dr. Fraiser) of Stargate SG-1 guest stars!

A boy will fly or die trying on “Flash Gordon” as Vultan comes to Earth to find his long lost son, take him to Mongo just so he can push the boy of the edge of a cliff. The man has great parenting skills. “Flash Gordon” this Friday, September 14 9/8C.

On “Doctor Who” this Friday, he becomes lost in time and trapped inside the walls of an old house as he struggles to stop a murder.

Revenge is the name of the game in an all new episode of “Painkiller Jane.” A deadly Neuro, who Andre thought was chipped, returns with all her powers in tact and holding an even bigger grudge. Friday, September 14 10/9C.

Over at ABC:

If you go to ABC.com, all the episodes from the entire season 3 of “Lost” are now available for viewing.

On CBS:

“Ghost Whisperer” continues winding down its repeats from last season that will take fans up to date for the big season 3 premiere on September 28 at 8PM ET. Right now you can go to the Official CBS Website and download a special animated sneak peak or watch a series of Webisodes called “The Other Side” which will give you some insight from the ghost’s point of view.

“Jericho” has a two-parter this week. Part One airs on Friday, September 14 at 9PM ET. The citizens of Jericho must fight or surrender when the leaders of the town of New Bern begin dropping bombs in the streets of Jericho.

On Saturday, September 15, at 9PM ET, part-two of the Season One Finale, titled “Why We Fight” airs. Ex-mayor Johnston (Gearld McRaney) leads his out-numbered army of Jericho’s volunteer citizens against a stronger, better equipped New Bern onslaught.

Also, you can visit the CBS Jericho.com Website for new videos and more.

What’s Happening on NBC?:

Not much in the way of SF this week, but the toward the end of the month all the great new NBC SF Shows will debut and all new episodes of “Heroes” will be on tap. For this week there is
a “Heroes” feature called “Parasite” on Monday at 9/8c. It will be hosted by Sendhil Ramamurthy who plays Suresh on the series, as well as, Zachary Quinto (Sylar)!

If you visit the NBC/Heroes Website you can view Season One episodes, learn all about the characters and the actors who play them, read the Heroes Comic Book and so much more.

“Medium” continues in rerun mode and there will be no new episodes on tap for this show until January 2008. However, the show’s star, Patricia Arquette has been nominated for an Emmy for her performance on the show, so she should be on TV next Sunday for that presentation.

On Fox:

The only thing on Fox that we will mention is next Sunday’s Emmy Awards Show, and, the only reason we bring it up is because there are over 30 nominations going out to SF and genre-related television programming this season. Congratulations to all those shows who made it on the list of nominees. The ceremony begins September 16 at 8/7C.

The USA Network:

In “The 4400″ premiere of “Tiny Machines,” Meghan and Diana discover a way to extract the future entity out of Tom, which could cost him his life. Meanwhile, Shawn recruits a small band of Promicin positives to bust Kevin out of Promise City. And Isabelle delivers Jordan Collier into the hands of The Marked. Tune in tonight at 9/8C.

Just two episodes remain in Season Six of “The Dead Zone!” Johnny and Sheriff Turner’s lives are on the line as they pursue two separate investigations that lead back to Walt. Don’t miss the premiere of “Ambush” tonight at 10/9C.

The season finale of “Psych” happens this Friday 10/9C. When an accused murderer goes on the lam, Shawn and Gus play bounty hunter, racing “Midnight Run”-style to bring him in before the cops and a real bounty hunter get him first. However, the chase gets complicated when Shawn realizes the guy they are bringing in is innocent. Kevin Sorbo guest stars in the premiere of “Bounty Hunters.”

On the CW Network:

The next season of “Smallville” happens on September 25, but in this Thursday’s (8/7C) repeat episode Lois vows to find the identity of the Green Arrow. While attending a fundraiser, Lois (Erica Durance) witnesses the Green Arrow (Justin Hartley) steal a rare diamond necklace off Martha’s (Annette O’Toole) neck and vows to find the man behind the costume.

Clark (Tom Welling) does some investigating of his own and discovers Oliver Queen is the Green Arrow and has been stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) enlists Lionel’s (John Glover) help in testing Lana’s (Kristin Kreuk) loyalty. Allison Mack also stars.

Dean (Jensen Ackles) must deal with the aftermath of the fight between Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Jake (guest star Aldis Hodge) and pays a steep price for his involvement.

The Demon and his spirits threaten to overtake the hunters until they receive help from an unexpected ally.

This episode was directed by Robert Singer with teleplay by Eric Kripke and story by Eric Kripke and Michael T. Moore.

That’s “Supernatural” this Thursday at 9/8C.

HD Tier:

And for all you HD television freaks out there, this week HD-Net is offering up its whole SF line-up that includes episodes of “Firefly,” “Star Trek: Enterprise,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “Surface” and many more of your sci-fi favorites in hi-def.

    I’m with Michael!

This week’s Doctor Who is easily one of the greatest hours of SF Television I have ever seen!

Ahh, Prince Vultan’s decent to Earth. That should be interesting. I’ll be checking it out to see those “parenting skills” at work…
